One family, one district, two businesses
In 1978 Babulal Data opened a mustard oil plant at Khairthal, a town about a hundred kilometres from Delhi. Forty-eight years later the Group still presses oil within the same district — and also runs email infrastructure for Indian banks and state governments.
The two halves are less unrelated than they look. Dr. Ajay Data, the Managing Director, was born in Khairthal. He founded Data Infosys — now Data Ingenious Global Limited — in 1999 as Rajasthan's first private internet service provider, and went on to chair the Universal Acceptance Steering Group from 2019 to 2023, the first Asian to hold the role. A mustard oil family from Alwar helped put Indian-language email addresses on the internet.
