DataMail is the world's first IDN-compliant free email service: addresses in 16 languages across 22 scripts, powered by XgenPlus and built by Data Xgen Technologies.

Email Address Internationalisation (EAI) allows an address to be written in a script other than Latin, Devanagari, Gujarati, Tamil and more, rather than forcing every mailbox in the world through the Latin alphabet. DataMail offers that free, in 16 languages across 22 scripts, built on the same XgenPlus platform Data Group sells to enterprises and government bodies.

It is the commercial, consumer-facing expression of standards work the Group has spent two decades on. Dr. Ajay Data, Data Group's Managing Director, chaired the Universal Acceptance Steering Group from 2019 to 2023, the first Asian to hold the role, and DataMail is what that chairmanship looks like when someone actually opens an inbox and signs up.

Registration also includes a free .भारत (.bharat) domain, so the whole address, not only the mailbox name in front of the @, can read in an Indian script.

DataMail's claim to being the world's first IDN-compliant free email service rests on standards work Dr. Ajay Data, Data Group's Managing Director, has led at ICANN for over two decades. He chaired the Universal Acceptance Steering Group from 2019 to 2023, the first Asian to hold the role, was the first Indian appointed to ICANN's ccNSO Council in 2018, and co-chairs its Neo-Brahmi Generation Panel. XgenPlus, the enterprise platform DataMail runs on, is the same capability sold to banks and government bodies.
